Short-term and Long-term Rehabilitation
Recovering from a stroke or fracture, or major illness, an individual will need a specialized type
of short-term care focused on the restoration of function, often combining
physical, occupational and speech therapies. This program helps patients to
return to independent living, upon discharge from the hospital.
Long-term rehabilitation is for Amsterdam's residents who may have a functional impairment, chronic disease or dementia. A combination of therapies is prescribed to
maintain their current level of function, raise their level of comfort, and prevent further deterioration of their condition. These may include
skilled physical therapy, occupational, or speech therapy or a rehabilitation
nursing program consisting of floor ambulation or geri-gym for wellness.
